July was a rough month for us, y'all. For the first time in six summers, we had to cancel a #MakossaBK. This happened the same week we achieved 2,000 likes on Facebook. Doing a party of this magnitude can be challenging. The number of phone calls, text messages and emails involved to keep this train on the tracks is staggering. We want to thank you for sticking with us as we've sorted things out since May. We also want to send love to everyone who reached out to us with their ideas, advice, concerns and words of encouragement. It means the world to us. Seriously. We gon' make it.

But enough living in the past. We're back, well-rested and reinvigorated. We weren't going to let August whiz by without throwing another classic. And we want to thank the good folks at Berg'n for seeing our vision and for allowing us to use their space to let us do our thing.

2015 marks the Makossa Brooklyn Cookout entering its sixth consecutive summer. Still considered one of the best outdoor summer soirees in Brooklyn (and officially voted one of the 20 Best Summertime Parties in NYC by Time Out New York in 2014), Wonway Posibul of Latin Soul Brothers links up with NYC-based event promotion team Rare Form to bring his famous Makossa sound from San Francisco to NYC to create a bi-coastal vibe like none other. The monthly cookouts have garnered a loyal following, a multitude of acclaim and success since its birthplace, the backyard of Fresthetic, a boutique / gallery in Williamsburg, Brooklyn.
